EIZO MX317W - One Cable 8MP Teleradiology Monitor
The EIZO RadiForce MX317W for Teleradiology
Teleradiology is now routine in many radiology departments. Reading happens in a hospital, at a second site, or in a home office, and each location has to meet the same standard. Radiologists need accurate images, stable calibration, and a workstation that does not take over the room. Hospital teams need that standard to hold across every site they manage.
The EIZO RadiForce MX317W was built for this way of working.
Grayscale and color on a single screen
A reading session can mix grayscale X-ray and CT with color studies. The MX317W’s Hybrid Gamma PXL function tells monochrome and color content apart pixel by pixel and applies the correct tone response to each. Radiologists do not need a second monitor or a manual switch to view both correctly.
The panel reaches up to 550 cd/m² with a 1800:1 contrast ratio and keeps its image quality across wide viewing angles, which helps when a colleague joins at the screen. A 13-bit look-up table and 10-bit output over DisplayPort or USB-C support smooth tonal transitions. Preset modes for CR, CT, endoscopy, and pathology can switch automatically through the RadiCS LE software that comes with the monitor.
Calibration that does not depend on the reader
A remote workstation has no medical physicist nearby, so built-in quality control matters more than it does in the hospital. An integrated luminance sensor calibrates the monitor to the DICOM standard on its own. Calibration can run overnight, and the computer can stay switched off. A backlight sensor holds brightness steady during use, and the Digital Uniformity Equalizer corrects brightness and colour imbalances across the panel.
Standardizing across sites
For hospital groups, the question is rarely about one monitor. It is whether every reading station, in the hospital and outside it, meets the same documented standard. EIZO’s RadiCS software covers calibration, acceptance testing, and constancy testing. RadiNET Pro manages calibration centrally across many monitors and keeps the full history. That makes quality control a managed process, and it saves time compared with maintaining each station by hand.
Details that help over long sessions
The Work-and-Flow functions address common friction in daily reading. Point-and-Focus dims the area around the region of interest. Hide-and-Seek shows reports or patient information in a small overlay window, so no extra monitor is needed. Switch-and-Go lets one keyboard and mouse control two computers.
The stand adjusts continuously in height by 100 mm, tilts from 5° forward to 30° back, and swivels 70°. The optional RadiLight adds soft background light that reduces eye strain in a dark reading room.
Built for a long service life
EIZO provides a five-year warranty on the monitor, and the housing contains roughly 70% recycled plastic. Over the life of a department’s equipment, durability and repairability weigh as heavily as the purchase price.
Plan the whole workstation, not only the display
The monitor is one link in a diagnostic chain. The graphics card, the notebook’s video output, PACS access, network security, and the reading environment all shape the result. EIZO recommends its MED-XN64 graphics card for the MX317W, and it publishes USB-C compatibility information, so check your notebook against that list before you specify a remote setup.
